  • Get a credit up to $75 each month = UUI’s entry level EBB internet plan for FREE

Already a UUI Internet Customer?  This credit is available for both current and new internet customers, once qualified.

We believe that every Alaskan deserves fast, reliable internet service to access essential needs like education, healthcare and work – especially during a pandemic.  That’s why we have the EBB program.

What is EBB?

Emergency Broadband Benefit is a new and temporary emergency federal program enacted to help Americans afford internet service during the pandemic.  Under this program, low-income households or those who experienced a substantial loss of income may receive a discount on the cost of internet service.  Qualifying Alaskan households may receive a temporary $75 per month discount off an internet plan – making UUI’s entry level internet plan FREE or substantially reducing the cost of our upgraded plans.  The Emergency Broadband Benefit is non-transferable and limited to one monthly service discount per household.

Who is Eligible?

A household is eligible if one member of the household meets at least one of these criteria:

  • Qualifies for the Lifeline program;
  • Receives benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision, or did so in the 2019-2020 school year;
  • Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year;
  • Experienced a substantial loss of income since February 29, 2020 and the household had a total income in 2020 below $99,000 for single filers and $198,000 for joint filers

Before you contact UUI and can receive benefits, you must pre-qualify through the temporary federal Emergency Broadband Benefit Program.  Get started with the qualification process by visiting https://getemergencybroadband.org.

The Emergency Broadband Protection Program (EBBP) is a federal program to reduce internet bills for a limited duration.  When the program concludes, program participants will be subject to UUI’s normal charges and fees in the event they continue to subscribe to UUI services.  Qualifying customers are entitled to free entry level internet, or a monthly credit up to $75, which can be applied to charges for the base plan fees for UUI residential internet service.  If the base plan fees are less than $75, customer will receive a credit in the amount of the base plan fee only.  If the base plan fees are more than $75, customer will be responsible for paying any charges/fees in excess of $75.  Credit does not apply to usage charges, equipment charges, or any other charges.  Customers must independently apply and qualify for EBB Service through the FCC before receiving EBBP credits from UUI.  Additional charges and credits may apply in some locations.
